The revenue of companies in the segment exceeded R$12 billion last year, and they employ 49 thousand people in ES. Between 2021 and 2023, growth outside the state was 124%.
Espírito Santo's basic industry, a reference in the supply of products and services for the oil and gas, energy, steel, mining and pulp industries, has been gaining ground outside the state. The revenue of the 158 companies that make up the segment reached R$12.2 billion last year - 59% (R$7.2 billion) came from contracts signed outside Espírito Santo. Between 2021 and 2023, the expansion is 12%.
“The largest industries in Espírito Santo are in the oil and gas, steel, mining and pulp sectors. We have learned a lot by supplying them and we are taking the experience abroad, which is great for our industry. Before, we depended heavily on investments made here in Espírito Santo. Now, we are looking at the whole of Brazil. The market is bigger and the risks end up being diluted,” explained Antônio Falcão, president of the Chamber of Base and Construction of the Federation of Industries of Espírito Santo.
Suppliers from Espírito Santo operate in a market worth almost a trillion dollars. Over the next five years, purchases and investments to be made by oil and gas, energy, steel, mining and pulp companies throughout Brazil will reach R$970 billion. The data was collected by DVF Consultoria and will be presented at the Mec Show, a trade fair for the sector that will be held from August 6 to 8 at the Pavilhão de Carapina.
“These are good numbers, but we want more. We are in constant contact with the executives of these companies because it is very important to have proximity, to know the projects and to understand the demands. The data shows that we need to persist in this work and invest heavily in efficiency, technology and workforce qualification”, pointed out Leonardo Cereza, president of the Union of Metallurgical and Electrical Material Industries of the State of Espírito Santo (Sindifer).
